I, Vampire #14
I have come to realize that an issue of I, Vampire never disappoints! The story continues with the now evil Andrew Bennett fucking shit up royally. And Mary Queen of Blood, along with her group are trying to stop him. Crazy fighting ensues, and Andrew ends up biting a dog, creating a Vampire Bulldog. Which I absolutely love! The good guys escape. Andrew then goes off with Tig to recruit more being to his cause. He uses Tig to seduce a magic based character I have never heard of. Bennett explains his plans to the wizard (for lack of a better term), and gives him the option to join. He accepts the offer. So in the upcoming issues we can look forward to seeing some kind of crazy Wizard/Vampire hybrid! Joshua Hale Fialkov keeps pulling me in deeper and deeper into the story with every issue. And the ART!!! Andrea Sorrentino keeps putting out one of the darkest and most beautiful books on the stands! And as far as I know, the artist hasn’t changed on this book for 14 issues! That is dedication right there!

Green Lantern New Guardians #14
Kyle Rayner’s quest to master the full emotional spectrum continues! In this issue he tries to master both the Indigo light of compassion and the yellow light of fear. And Arkillo is the one who has to teach him the latter. Kyle finds it difficult to master the power of fear, because as a Green Lantern he has to overcome great fear to use his ring. Only by admitting his fear does he finally wield the yellow light. Arkillo joins Kyle Rayner and Carol Farris as they all go off to find Larfleez, the Lantern who will teach Kyle to harness the Orange power of Avarice. With the threat of the third army and the guardians of the galaxy looming, this story is getting very interesting. I seem to be very partial to the writing of Mr. Tony Bedard. And the art by both Andrei Bressan and Amilcar Pina was pretty good. I especially liked the design for Yellow Lantern Kyle. I am looking forward for more!

Amazing Spider-man #700
All I have to say is, holy shit. This comic book was literally amazing. I don’t normally give spoilers away, but seeing as how by the time you read this review it will be common knowledge, I say “fuck it”.
That red haring they set for us with the Marbius side story served its purpose and sent me off the main trail. Morbius and Peter did not switch places, Peter is still stuck in Doc Ock’s dead body. Which makes Doc Ock Superior Spider-man. I understand now what Dan Slott meant about having to hide out for a few months after this issue was released. I can see how lots of Spider-man fans will hate the idea of Otto Octavius being Spider-man. I’m not, because I really want to see how it pans out in Superior Spider-man.
Its a damn shame that Peter Parker had to die in such a terrible way, but to be honest…I think this may have been the best. I like how they play up WHAT Spider-man is supposed to be not WHO. On that note, anyone COULD be Spider-man. I just hope Peter Parker doesn’t come back in two months and Superior Spider-man gets dropped, it will have made his death pointless.
Overall, this comic was great and shows that not everyone can be saved and that Marvel isn’t afraid to kill their most popular character. Let’s just hope Superior Spider-man is on par with Avengers Arena and doesn’t suck.

Justice League #14
This book was silly fun, and sometimes that is all you need in your comics. In the last issue Superman was bitten by Cheetah. He then turns into some kind of crazy cheetah super monster that the Justice League has to battle. We get a little back story on Cheetah herself, and Aquaman reveals his badass-ary by capturing her using piranhas. Superman is healed and the League returns to the watchtower. The part I thought was funny was the date between Superman and Wonder Woman. They are just eating at a diner, in full costume, with dozens of people watching them. We also get a full page splash of Batman spying on this date in a somewhat creepy fashion. It seems that he does not approve. So Geoff Johns gives us an entertaining story, and I can’t wait for the beginning of the War for the Throne of Atlantis. The art by Tony Daniel was great as always. It is also very much in line with what Jim Lee brought to the book. All in all, the cornerstone DC title boldly marches on.

Amazing Spider-man #699.1
As some of you may know, Morbius, the Living Vampire will be getting his own series starting next year. Seems a bit strange given the circumstances Peter Parker and Doc Ock find themselves in at the moment. I know Marbius has had a series or two in the past, but the timing seems a bit odd.
But maybe its just a red haring to make me think Peter will switch bodies with Morbius. Making Morbius Superior Spider-man and Peter Morbius, the Living Vampire. Only time will tell, but I know its going to be EPIC!

Amazing Spider-man #699
We’re winding down to the end, everyone. There are only two issues left for Amazing Spider-man, afterwards we get an all new Superior Spider-man comic to venture into. Gotta say, I don’t know how Peter is going to get out of this one.
Some of us think that Alpha is going to be Superior or maybe even the Spider-man 2099 guy, but I haven’t seen any nods to them, so I doubt it.
This is one of those issues where everything we’ve known about the world of Spider-man is still true but they turn it on its head. I give Slott tons of kudos for pulling that off and cannot wait for the next issue, which is a .1 so maybe we’ll get that nod afterall.

Hawkeye #1
I had heard a lot of good things about this series, so because of that and the low issue count I decided to pick up this series. To be honest, I didn’t think it was the greatest thing in the world. The biggest positive for this series is the art. The art really is amazing. It is simple in the best way, and reminds me of David Mazzucchelli from Batman: Year One. The colors were also good. Everything seemed to have more of a muted tone throughout the book, which I liked. But aside from that, I didn’t really like it. The character of Clint Barton just comes off as an asshole to me, in several of the things that he does. I don’t like the Landlord character that continuously says “Bro”. I do like Kat Bishop from Young Avengers, and also the new character of Pizza Dog. I will give this series a few more issue though, and hopefully my opinion will change.

Batman Inc. #5
This issue is written by the legend Grant Morrison and drawn by Chris Burnham. As the story opens we find Batman, Damian, and the rest of Batman Inc. dealing with the fallout from last issue. Batman witnessed a horrific vision of the future. So with this this device, we again visit the world of Batman 666. A future where Bruce Wayne is dead and Damian Wayne has taken up the Cowl and the things that he has to face are truly terrible. We find this Batman trying to protect a baby then retreating to his stronghold at Arkham Asylum. The city and its people have fallen to chaos and to the Joker Venom, which apparently has infected everyone in the city except Batman and his survivors. Who include Commissioner Barbra Gordon and a pet cat Damian calls “Alfred”. The infection spreads into Arkham and an infected Barbra shoots Batman. Batman then makes his final stand at the steps of Arkham before a nuclear bomb destroys Gotham. We return to Bruce Wayne Batman who tells his son that his mother is planning this. The rest of Batman Inc. is then lured into a building, which then explodes. Major cliffhanger! The art is this book is beautiful. It has a fast and scratchy feel to it. The cover is also just amazing. I want more and more. And fortunately for me we still have seven more issues to go.

Avengers Arena #1
Holy fucking shit! This comic is by far the best thing to come out of Marvel Now! I kid you not, this comic is brutal and epic. I had high hopes for it, seeing as how the plot “Avengers Academy done in the style of Battle Royale” is writing a pretty big check that most asses couldn’t cash. But let me tell you, for a first issue, its amazing.
Some people might not like it, but come on. What more do you expect in a comic like this? Its a bunch of mutants killing each other. And to start things off, X23 getting her face melted off. Literally amazing.
X23 is my favorite mutant so I’m a bit biased, anything with her in it I’ll buy. Even if her solo series was kind of dry at times.
Do yourselves a favor, ask Santa for this comic for xmas, there’s still time.
